I am our resident children & young adult therapist at Sunrise Counseling! Our smaller clients love the approach of using games, play therapy, art, exercise, & talk therapy to work through their worries and problems.  

As a  former Special Education teacher, I loved working with children from mild to moderate intellectual delays & students with ADHD.  Completing my education in counseling had opened my perspective on how to give extra tools for the exceptional child. This is what continues to drive my work. I work with parents who are dealing with IEP & 504 meetings & provide recommendations for school teams on how to help children with conduct issues.  I also work with young adolescents on dealing with grief, depression, & anxiety.

I was previously enlisted in the United States Navy, serving five fantastic years.  As a mom myself, I understand the stresses and pressures you may feel as a parent going through struggles of daily life. Though my main focus is working with kids, I deeply care about my work of doing co-parenting and making great parents even more effective! I am fluent in Spanish and English and can help families who may need a bilingual therapist. 

 I focus on the individual as a whole, and not only their problems. Most problems we face are a consequence by external triggers that might not seem to affect us! Another essential perspective I like to incorporate is spirituality; I believe we are all part of something bigger then what we can see.
