LaToya Mullen holds dual certification as a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. LaToya has spent time working in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings serving both adults and adolescents/children with various psychiatric illnesses. Before pursuing a career as an Nurse Practitioner, LaToya graduated from VCU with a Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy in 2007 and worked as a Recreation Therapist at Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center and Riverside behavioral Health. Soon after in 2010, LaToya graduated from Norfolk State University with her Bachelor's degree in Nursing. LaToya has worked as a Registered Nurse, specializing in Emergency Acute Care, Primary Care and Psychiatric Nursing for 5 years and also spent time overseas in the middle east working as a contract nurse caring for both military and civilian population.
LaToya has practiced as a Nurse Practitioner primarily in the mental health setting for the last 6 years and has genuine passion for healing the mind with both pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods. She cares for each individual on a case by case basis and treats every person based on their individual needs using both evidenced based practice and clinical experience.
LaToya believes that when "I" is replaced by "We" even illness becomes wellness. Therefore, becoming well is a team effort where provider and client must work together to produce a healthy mind, body, and soul.
LaToya is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority Incorporated and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
